This is a good post. At first, something bothered me about it, and then I realized it was your use of “godless” – which is entirely accurate when referring to atheists, but is almost always used in a derogatory fashion. Once I’ve thought about it, I’m pretty ok with being called godless.

In addition to your astute analysis, it’s worth noting that the path of merely opposing atheism is intellectually primitive and logically incoherent. Atheist’s refuse to respect bigotry. The godless respect the godly when the personal supersedes the argumentative. In a way Ham’s message reduces atheist’s to their arguments. Whatever happened to the golden rule? I think we all want others to respect us mainly for our personage. The “I’m right you’re wrong” debate is useless in this context.
